Are you a predoctoral student finishing your first year in a health professions program? If so, you may wish to apply for the CCTS Clinical Research Training (TL1) Fellowship, a mentored research experience that provides skills that will help you stand out from the crowd when competing for residency, academic research, and health leadership positions. Applications are accepted on a rolling basis, with most students stepping out between the first and second years of a clinical program (e.g., MD, PharmD, PhD in Nursing) to complete the yearlong training and receive their MS/MSPH.
The program offers a stipend, tuition support for an approved MS/MSPH track at either UAB or Tulane, a weekly seminar series, and funding for certain training related expenses. Fellows complete a research project that generates publishable data and develop an abstract, poster, and oral presentation on their findings. Research areas include but are not limited to: health informatics, health care efficiency/disparities, health care quality measurement and improvement, patient-centered outcomes and comparative effectiveness research, and pharmacoepidemiology and patient safety.
