The Educational Specialist in Collaborative Teacher with a Reading Concentration is designed for individuals who hold current Class A certification. There are two tracks to consider based on your current certification - please see the program checklist for a description of the different tracks. This program leads to Class AA certification in Collaborative Teacher K-6 & 6-12.

Coursework requires a minimum of 30 semester hours to complete and includes courses in teaching reading in grades P-12, reading assessment and evaluation, research and problems in reading, as well as an internship in remedial reading. Admissions Requirements

  • Candidates must hold a valid Class A certificate in Collaborative Teacher or any other teaching field
  • 1-3 letters of recommendation
  • Faculty interviews are required and scheduled by the program coordinator
  • Attendance to a reading information session (prior to admission). Orientation sessions are held the 2nd and 4th Thursdays of each month from 5 P.M. to 6 P.M. RSVP for a program information session.
  • Application deadlines are July 15th for fall semester entry, November 15th for spring semester entry, and April 15th for summer semester entry
