Department Chair and Professor Dean Assimos, M.D., was honored by the American Urological Association (AUA). He received the Distinguished Service Award for voluminous, substantive contributions to the educational resources of the AUA.

Each year, the American Urological Association honors the contributions of physician researchers and educators to the field of medicine, the specialty of urology, and the AUA.

Assimos has been a member of the AUA since for more than 30 years. His educational contributions include being a faculty member for numerous AUA national and international post-graduate courses, generation of the original core curriculum for kidney stone management, serving on the AUA kidney stone guidelines committee since its inception, authorship of AUA Updates, AUA CD-ROM and audio educational platforms, and being on the editorial board for Urologic Survey.
