The Department of Urology welcomes three new faculty members.  

Adam Baumgarten, M.D., Assistant Professor, earned his medical degree from the University of South Flordia. He went on to complete his residency at USF. Dr. Baumgarten is fellowship-trained in urologic trauma, reconstruction, and prosthetics. 

He specializes in reconstructive urology, Urethral Stricture Disease, Erectile Dysfunction, penile prosthesis, male stress incontinence, artificial urinary sphincter, male sling, Peyronie’s Disease, implant revision surgery, and robotic urinary tract reconstruction.

Carmen Tong, M.D., Assistant Professor, graduated from Arizona College of Osteopathic Medicine at Midwestern University. She completed her residency at Einstein Healthcare Network. She also completed a fellowship at Monroe Carell Jr. Children's Hospital at Vanderbilt. 

Dr. Tong's areas of interest include pediatric urology, spina bifida, hypospadias, disorders of sex development, vesicoureteral reflux, and complex genitourinary reconstruction.

Tony Pinson, M.D., FACS, Associate Professor, is a board-certified urologist with sub-specialization in Female Pelvic Medicine and Reconstructive Surgery. He is also a Fellow in the American College of Surgeons. Dr. Pinson received his medical degree from The University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, Michigan. He went on to complete a General Surgery residency at the State University of New York Health Science Center (SUNY) in Syracuse, New York, and a Urology residency at the University of New Mexico in Albuquerque, New Mexico.

Dr. Pinson specializes in female urology, pelvic prolapse, voiding dysfunction, urinary incontinence, robotics, and kidney stones.

He is currently accepting new patients at UAB Medicine Urology Clinic at Baptist Medical Center East in Montgomery, AL.
