The University of Alabama at Birmingham will be home to the “Best Little Pork House in Alabama” when its new student center — currently under construction — opens with the fall 2015 semester.
Full Moon Bar-B-Que will be one of four restaurants in the 159,000-square-foot building focused on student services and activities. The agreement puts the student center dining space at 100 percent of capacity, with commitments from Panera Bread, Mein Bowl and Starbucks.
“This $48 million student center is an investment in our students, who deserve world-class facilities and services,” said UAB Provost Linda Lucas. “The addition of Full Moon is yet another example of our commitment to ensuring the student center is a popular destination among current students and an attraction to potential ones. We are proud to have local partners that share our commitment to Birmingham and our students as we prepare to open a facility that will be truly transformational for our campus.”
The on-campus location is the first of its kind for Full Moon Bar-B-Que.
“Full Moon Bar-B-Que has always been a big supporter of UAB from scholastics to athletics,” said Joe Maluff, co-owner of Full Moon Bar-B-Que. “UAB’s adding Full Moon Bar-B-Que to its on-campus dining options is a unique opportunity to further our brand, while re-enforcing our commitment to UAB and its faculty, staff and students.”
The student center will be conveniently located at the site of the former Hill University Center, and students, faculty and staff are excited about the planned dining options.
