UAB’s Office of Marketing & Communications works with UAB faculty, staff and students to develop and distribute university news and information in a variety of ways.

As UAB continues to grow, Marketing & Communications is working to prioritize sharing stories, events and announcements that exemplify UAB's strategic plan, Forging the Future. The plan's four mission pillars and accompanying strategic goals and objectives, plus the university's seven overarching shared values, provide an excellent framework within which to frame your submissions and pitches to Marketing & Communications.

  • What channels could be used to publicize my submission?

    University Relations maintains a network of campus communication channels, including:

    Internal communications resources, such as:

    • UAB Reporter website, which houses campus updates, policy and human resources announcements and feature stories on Blazer accomplishments.
    • MyUAB portal
    • Blazer Weekly, UAB's student newsletter
      • Publishes each Wednesday during the academic year except for holiday periods. The deadline for requests is 10 a.m. Tuesdays. Publishing exemptions can include during academic closures for spring and winter break.
    • the eReporter, UAB's employee newsletter
      • Publishes Tuesday and Friday of each week. The deadline for submission is 10 a.m. Monday and Thursday for the following day's edition. Publishing exceptions can include Tuesdays following UAB closures for federal/state holidays and during academic winter break. Subscribe to the eReporter.

    • The UAB Campus Calendar, the central hub for all university events
      • Please note that Campus Calendar submissions may take up to 48 hours for approval depending on the volume of active submissions.

    • Banner sliders on websites such as UAB Faculty and UAB Students

    University Relations also works closely with UAB distributed communicators to determine whether in-unit communication channels (such as department, division or school news websites, newsletters, social media channels or digital signage) are the best fit for the submission.

    Did you know you can manage your UAB e-newsletter preferences? Visit our Subscription Center to select the specific emails you want from the UAB units you're interested in. You can also access the Subscription Center by selecting the link at the bottom of the UAB emails you currently receive.

  • How are requests reviewed?

    Submissions are reviewed by University Relations' content strategy team and are assessed based on factors such as audience, institutional priorities, timeliness and relevant dates or deadlines.

    As noted above, University Relations is working to prioritize sharing stories, events and announcements that exemplify UAB’s strategic plan and shared values; consider those as a framework when sending submissions and pitches to University Relations.

    Any submission can be revised or edited based on University Relations' style guidelines.

  • How will University Relations communicate with me about my submission?

    Once a request is submitted, a ticket will be opened with University Relations for processing and an email will be sent to the submitter. Updates will be provided via the ticketing system during the processing, and submitters can communicate with University Relations by replying in the the email thread.

  • How can I submit a clinical trial?

    To submit a clinical trial, use the clinical trials form.
