Greetings team!

Although it still may feel like winter, we are over halfway through the spring semester!  Our students are enjoying Spring Break and I know many of you are using this time to put final touches on upcoming programs to finish off the semester.  Last week at the NASPA conference held in Philadelphia, I had the opportunity to co-present about the re-envisioning of our UAB Division of Student Affairs. Participants were eager to learn of the transformative process and great work that we are doing to create a 21st-century student affairs division based on excellence. In preparation for the presentation, I reflected on how far we have come as a Division and I look forward to our continued work together to move the needle even further.

Several initiatives are in process and I know that their success relies on the dedication of each of you within the Division. Thank you for your diligence in serving our students. After Spring Break, on Monday, March 19, we will celebrate the newly formed Off-Campus Student Services which will serve our students who reside at home, in off-campus apartments or otherwise commute. Please join us from 9-11 a.m. in HSC 140. Comments will be shared at 9:30 a.m. and refreshments will be served.

Our team is growing and new talented colleagues are joining us as we continue to create the Student Affairs Division of Excellence! I want to thank you for your involvement in our search processes. The day is only successful for our candidates if they have the opportunity to meet you and hear of your experiences. It is especially important for representatives from all offices to attend the presentations of candidates. I encourage all to attend and support these endeavors.

Finally, Spring Break is a great time to reflect upon what has been accomplished thus far regarding strategic goals, initiatives and retention of our students.  These areas continue to be a focus for us!
