Her new role will focus on securing mid-level gifts and helping build a pipeline of donors to support medical education, the Huntsville and Montgomery regional campuses and several clinical and basic science departments. In those departments, she will work to increase philanthropic support from alumni trainees and grateful patients, said Erica Hollins, senior director of development and strategic initiatives at the Heersink School of Medicine.

“Bethany has been a tremendous asset and resource to our team,” Hollins said. “Bethany always finds a way to get it done—and done well. Her attention to detail, commitment to mastering new skills and ability to create processes and systems will position her for success in her new role. Bethany has a passion for the mission of the Heersink School of Medicine and UAB.”

Megann Bates Cain, assistant vice president for development for the Heersink School of Medicine, said Bethany has always been quick to offer her help or expertise for any issue, from training new development coordinators to implementing new systems. 

“Bethany’s commitment to her career, her tireless drive to master systems and processes, and her ability to be a resource for her coworkers, leadership team, and our volunteers and donors is unsurpassed,” Bates Cain said. “She is an invaluable member of our team, and I’m excited to see her excel in this new role.”
