We’re thrilled to welcome Clay Shannon to the team as the Director of Annual Giving. In this role, Clay will lead a three-person team in developing a comprehensive, centralized, multi-channel annual giving program.

He will work closely with Advancement Services to determine annual giving prospect lists and appropriate data segmentation to ensure that all gift prospects are approached in the most productive, cost-effective way. He will collaborate with all units, schools, and departments to create specialized appeals that will create awareness of giving opportunities within a defined donor base. Clay is also responsible for identifying opportunities to advance annual giving donors into the mid-to-major gift pipeline.

Clay has an MBA from the University of Alabama. Prior to UAB, he worked in development and fundraising for the McWane Science Center and the Greater Birmingham Humane Society. Most recently, he served as Director of Annual Giving for Birmingham-Southern College.

Clay lives in Bluff Park, where he enjoys running, gardening, keeping up with reality TV competitions like Survivor and The Amazing Race, and playing with his dog Radar, a 3-year-old rat terrier.
