In her role as a prospect research analyst, Petrey will identify and research alumni, donors, and grateful patients who might be interested in funding clinical and research initiatives at the Heersink School of Medicine. She will work with the HSOM fundraising team to develop prospect profiles and create detailed analysis on prospect potential.

“Maria is hard at work learning the ins and outs of Advancement and Prospect Research, and has made great progress already,” Kate Harris, assistant director of prospect research and management, said. “The PRM team has enjoyed getting to know Maria over her first few days, and we’re so excited to have her as a part of our team!”

Prior to coming to UAB, Petrey helped media companies implement software and provided support.

She graduated from the University of Florida with a degree in journalism.

Petrey lives in Homewood with her husband and son. Both of her daughters are in college.

In her free time, Petrey enjoys riding horses and learning to play the cello.
