We’re excited to welcome Mary Katherine Smyth to UAB Advancement as a University Events Specialist. In this role, she will plan events hosted by the Department of Surgery and the Heersink School of Medicine Dean's office.

Mary Katherine graduated from Fordham University with a bachelor's degree in communication. For the last three years, Mary Katherine has worked as an event manager planning luxury weddings, social gatherings, and corporate events in New York City.

Originally from Vestavia Hills, Mary Katherine said she is so happy to be back in Birmingham since moving back from Manhattan. In her free time, she enjoys reading and spending time with her family at Lake Martin.
