She also manages the donor database to locate potential new donors and coordinate a host fundraising events and special projects.

Derico received her bachelor’s degree in business administration from Alabama Agricultural and Mechanical University. She is joining Advancement with nearly a decade of UAB experience, previously working with the UAB Employee Assistance and Counseling Center. Although she’s new to Advancement, she understands the importance of the department. Derico has been on the Benevolent Fund council for the past six years and currently serves as the president of the council.

Derico was born and raised in Birmingham, and she is a wife and mom to four children. During her free time, she enjoys volunteering with her church, the NAACP Metro Birmingham Branch and Children’s Village.
