Yolanda Heiberger

Also new to UAB Advancement is Yolanda Heiberger, M.A. Heiberger is joining our team as a development writer for the HSOM team. In this role, she will work closely with the HSOM development team to strengthen donor relationships and support development goals by writing personalized proposals, correspondence, and stewardship/impact reports.

Heiberger graduated from the University of Alabama where she received a bachelor’s in journalism and a master’s in mass communication. After working in public relations early in her career, she has served as a contracted medical/healthcare writer for the past several years on behalf of clients that include UAB Medicine, Southern Research, HudsonAlpha Institute for Biotechnology, the Children's Tumor Foundation, and the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.

Since 2014, Heiberger has worked with Bruce Korf, M.D., Ph.D., the UAB Department of Genetics, and the UAB Neurofibromatosis Program assisting Dr. Korf with the NF Program monthly director's blog and developing websites and other special projects, including the Alabama Rare Disease Advisory Council Annual Report.

Heiberger is originally from Nashville, but she has lived in Alabama since she completed graduate school. She often travels back home to Nashville to visit her family. She has two sons that are both in college and currently lives in Vestavia Hills with her husband, Steve. In her free time, Heiberger enjoys traveling, reading, hiking, and restoring old furniture.
