Research Interests

My research interests include socio-emotional development in individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities, and how to leverage my research to increase quality of life for these populations. Specific interventions I am interested in are sexual and social education, mindfulness and yoga, and augmentative and alternative communication. I am currently working on several projects including a mindfulness intervention project for students with learning disabilities and a mastery and motivation study for children with Williams and Down syndrome. I'm also involved in several systematic reviews and am leading one on the effects of COVID-19 on emotional well-being, learning, and cognition in students with learning disabilities. My research aim is to fill gaps in the field in regard to best practices with people with IDD and learning disabilities.
