Gabriela Oates (PhD 2015) is an Assistant Professor in the UAB Department of Pediatrics, Division of Pulmonary and Sleep Medicine.

She has a secondary appointment in the Division of Preventive Medicine. She is Associate Scientist at the Cystic Fibrosis Research Center (CFRC), The Minority Health & Health Disparities Research Center (MHRC), and Center for Outcomes and Effectiveness Research (COERE).

Dr. Oates was a K12 Scholar in the AHRQ-funded Patient-Centered Outcomes Research program (2016-2018) and a Fellow in the NHLBI/OBSSR Summer Institute on Randomized Behavioral Clinical Trials (2018). Her research addresses the social determinants of health in chronic diseases, with a focus on respiratory conditions.
