About the Program

How can your research influence learning in a higher education field? We can give you the skills you need to develop and implement scholarly research projects in your teaching.

As a matter of fact, if you're at all familiar with our Center for the Integration of Research, Teaching, and Learning (CIRTL) practitioner certificate, you'll notice two distinct attributes about our scholar certificate. The first is that it's identical to the practitioner certificate with the addition of two courses. The second is that this is the highest level of CIRTL certification in scholarly teaching. To earn it, you'll take Teaching at the College Level, CIRTL Seminar in Teaching & Learning I & II, Developing & Teaching Portfolio, and CIRTL Teaching Practicum courses to familiarize you with the classroom and teaching methodology. You'll also take a scholarly research course as well as complete a project that demonstrates your expertise. Finally, you'll round out your curriculum with electives, choosing from classes such as Writing & Reviewing Research, Writing a Journal Article in 12 Weeks, and Effective Use of Technology. The entire program can be completed on campus or online.
