About the Program

Clinical environments need experts in translating health informatics to clinical practice to ensure effective and appropriate data-driven decisions. We can give you the clinical informatics training you need to enhance care for clinics throughout your career.

In fact, we're proud to say that there's no other program like ours in the state of Alabama. But we're even more proud of the results you'll get from earning this certificate. You see, we've created a comprehensive, four-course curriculum taught by nationally-recognized health informatics experts that gives you unique training you simply can't get on the job. Best of all, it's all online. How do we do it? First, you take a basic introductory course that covers the history of informatics systems in health care. Then, you'll have the opportunity to study the design, analysis, and evaluation of health information systems, information collection, processing, recording, and the policies, practices, and principles of health informatics. Keep in mind, you can apply the credits earned toward an MS in Health Informatics at UAB, if you decide to go that direction.
