About the Program

The demand for skilled health education specialists and advocates is greater now more than ever. Our PhD in Community Health Promotion can prepare you to design programs that prevent disease and injury, improve health, and enhance overall quality of life.

This doctoral program provides you with the coursework, background, and practical experiences to prepare you to become a researcher and practitioner in the broad and rapidly growing field of health education and health promotion. Not only will you learn the skills needed to work with individuals and communities to assess health needs, you will also gain experience to effectively plan, implement and evaluate culturally appropriate and theoretically based interventions that promote health and lessen unhealthy behaviors. Completion of this degree program will prepare you for a career in academia, clinical research, and leadership in community and public health promotion in private industry, non-profit, and governmental health organizations.

This program delivers at least half of the content online with the remaining content delivered via on- campus meetings. Please check with the program director for more information about on-campus requirements.
