About the Program

It takes more than engineering skills to manage a construction site—it takes a keen understanding of your workers' needs and processes, as well as a strong business background. Our certificate in construction engineering management focuses on these and other leadership skills.

Because you'll need a broad set of skills on the job, we built a well-rounded program. That way, you'll be ready to deal with the wide variety of duties your job will demand. For instance, among the five courses you'll be required to complete is Construction Project Management. This class covers project planning, scheduling, estimating, budgeting, and more. You'll also take four elective classes such as Engineering Entrepreneurship, Construction Methods, Advanced Topics in Engineering Law, and other options. In the end, you'll not only have your certificate, but you'll be able to apply up to 12 credit hours toward an MS in Civil Engineering here at UAB if you choose.
