About the Program

You're passionate about materials innovation, research, and technological advancement, and ready for a career as a developer, consultant, or other position. When you earn a doctorate in materials engineering, you have an opportunity to fulfill those passions.

To help enhance your education, we want you to have as many research opportunities as possible. That's why we're going to give you hands-on experience working with metals and alloys, polymers and composites, ceramics and glass, and more. Your curriculum will vary slightly depending on whether you hold a master's or a bachelor's, and you may study topics such as metallurgical engineering, physical behavior of materials, thermodynamics, and mechanical behavior of materials before you graduate. Among your other requirements are dissertation research, seminars, a defense, and various electives.
