About the Program

When you open your own optometry practice, you're both an eye doctor and an entrepreneur—and you need a keen understanding of business in order to succeed. In our program, we'll give you all the tools you need to make your vision a reality.

So how do we help you balance two demanding curricula? Flexibility. You see, in optometry, your education will include extensive clinical training, as well as courses in optics, neuroscience, gross anatomy, eye movements, public health optometry, glaucoma, pediatric optometry, contact lenses, low vision rehabilitation, binocular vision, and more. Your business courses will include Strategic Management, Accounting and Finance for Managers, Information Technology and Business Strategy, and Marketing Strategy. If at all possible, we'll want you to start your MBA courses the summer before you begin the optometry program, but we do have degree plans available if you start your business classes after your eye care classes. It all boils down to this—earning both of your degrees is possible and important if you are interested in starting your own optometry practice.
