Faculty Senate
The Faculty Senate represents UAB’s faculty in matters of shared governance. The Senate is made up of faculty representatives from all of UAB’s academic units, as well as four officers elected at large by the faculty. Through our participation in various councils and committees, we convey the faculty’s views and concerns in matters that affect our University.
National Center for Faculty Development & Diversity
The University of Alabama at Birmingham is a member of the National Center for Faculty Development & Diversity (NCFDD) as an Institutional Member. The NCFDD is a nationally-recognized community of over 450 colleges and universities that provides online career development and mentoring resources for faculty at all levels.

Higher Education Recruitment Consortium
The Higher Education Recruitment Consortium (HERC) is a non-profit coalition of colleges, universities, hospitals, research labs, government agencies, and related non- and for-profit organizations, committed to diversifying the pipeline of faculty, staff, and executives in academia. HERC supports our member institutions in recruiting and retaining outstanding and diverse employees.
