The UAB School of Education’s online graduate programs got a substantial boost in U.S. News & World Report's "Best Online Programs" for 2017.

Among schools of education, the magazine rated the UAB SOE at No. 29 in 2017 for its online programs, up from No. 95 in 2016. The new ranking puts the SOE among the top 10 percent of the nation’s schools of education with online programs.

“I believe the SOE rose in the ranking thanks to the hard work and commitment of the faculty, administration and staff within our school to provide continual professional development and resources that enable us to offer an exemplary online learning environment for our students,” says Jenelle Hodges, Ph.D., administrator of the SOE’s Canvas learning management system.

The U.S. News & World Report based the “Best Online Graduate Education Programs” ranking on criteria that included student engagement, student services and technology, faculty credentials and training and peer reputation.
