UAB students can now earn a Master of Arts in Education with a Concentration in Community Health as well as a certificate in nonprofit management.

Through a joint venture between the UAB Community Health and Human Services program and the UAB Department of Government, students seeking a Master of Arts in Education Community Health Concentration UAB Graduation Photowith Nonprofit Management Certificate will learn advanced health education program planning, implementation, and evaluations as well as nonprofit management skills such as grant writing and fund raising.

The program exposes students to best practices and essential management tools necessary to thrive in dynamic nonprofit environments; public, volunteer and private health agencies; clinics; and other worksites.

Students who complete the master’s degree certificate program can pursue careers as community outreach or wellness coordinators, patient or public health educators, community assessment specialists, HIV counselors or testing services specialists, or community health workers.

Applications for the fall semester are due April 30, 2016. Admission to the program is a two-part process. Students must complete the Nonprofit Management Certificate application and apply for the Masters in Community Health through the UAB Graduate School.
