Construction on 9th Avenue South, between 17th and 18th streets south, will have long term traffic impacts. Construction of the UAB Technology Innovation Center will cause lanes of traffic to be closed to ensure pedestrian and traffic safety.
Beginning July 29:
- The eastbound lane on 9th Avenue South, between 17th and 18th streets south, will be closed until Oct. 2020. The road will become a one way for westbound traffic.
- Due to a construction closure on 17th Street South, westbound traffic and traffic exiting the 9th Avenue Parking Deck be forced west to take 16th Street South.
Beginning October 1:
- 9th Avenue South, between 17th and 18th streets south, will be closed until mid-January 2020. Detours routes and traffic instructions will be posted at the construction sites.
- The Campus Recreation Blazer Express bus stop will be closed until construction is complete. Riders may still access the Blazer Express South Green route via the Webb Building or School of Health Professions bus stops.
Building construction for the new UAB Technology Innovation Center is expected to be completed by late 2020 or early 2021.
