There will be a Faculty Senate meeting on Tuesday, June 12, 2018 from 7:30-9:20 am in Volker Hall, room 302 at 1670 University Blvd, to the left of Lister Hill Library.

Chair of the Faculty, Mike Wyss, will give his monthly report. Chris Brown, VP for Research, will present a presentation/collaboration session regarding Research Infrastructure at UAB and how it positions us to be optimally competitive, and progress on filling IRB and Director of Research positions. Tom Brannan, VP for Development and Alumni, will present an presentation/collaboration session regarding UAB’s Capital Campaign. A Q&A and faculty advisement time will be included in each session. Kathy Nugent, Executive Director of UAB Harbert Institute of Innovation and Entrepreneurship (IIE), will present a presentation/collaboration session regarding IIE’s leadership and process changes to foster efficient processing of IP agreements and collaborative exchanges of materials (MTAs).

The Faculty Senate Curriculum Committee will inform Senate members regarding recommendations they made on Changes in AP Credit Scores and on the Academic Calendar. Jamey Worrell, Faculty Senate Finance Committee Chair, will give a summary of updates the committee received regarding the RCM budget model.

Senate Committee Chairs will report on committee activities. Senate representatives will report on the activities of university-wide committees. An open forum time for faculty concerns and suggestions is also on the agenda. A full agenda is available on the Faculty Senate document website.

Attendance is open to all UAB faculty, students and staff. Attendees are free to come and go as their schedule allows. Breakfast refreshments will be available. 

If you need parking for the meeting, you may park in Lot 5A, across University Blvd from the Rec Center, between Volker Hall and the Hill Student Center. Enter on 16th street (side near Volker Hall). Take a ticket when you enter the lot and keep your ticket in your car. Then, at the meeting, please take a parking voucher, available next to the sign-in sheet. You will need both the ticket and the voucher to exit the lot without paying.
