There will be a Faculty Senate meeting on Tuesday, March 5th from 7:30-9:15 am in Volker Hall, room 302 at 1670 University Blvd.
Chair of the Faculty, Jamey Worrell, will give his monthly report. Lisa Higginbotham, Benevolent Fund Program Manager, will present a collaboration session regarding the Benevolent Fund. Q&A, collaboration, and faculty advisement time will be included in each session.
The second reading, discussion, and vote on the proposed changes to the UAB Faculty Handbook will be led by Dan Givan, chair of the Faculty Policies & Procedures Committee. Mike Wyss, Interim UAB Faculty Ombuds, will share information regarding the role of the Ombuds and answer questions. Senate members and faculty present will be given the opportunity to make suggestions regarding items the various Faculty Senate Standing Committees should address. An update on parking issues with be discussed. The purpose and process of Faculty-Senate Representatives attending and reporting on university-wide committees will be outlined and explained. Associate Chair of the Senate, Claudio Busettini, will give an update regarding the upcoming Faculty Senate nominations and elections.
Senate Committee Chairs will report on committee activities. Important information coming out of select university-wide committees will be shared. An open forum time for faculty to raise concerns, ideas and suggestions is also on the agenda.
A full agenda is available on the Faculty Senate document website. Attendance is open to all UAB faculty, students and staff. Attendees are free to come and go as their schedule allows. Breakfast refreshments will be available starting at 7am.
If you need parking for the meeting, you may park in Lot 5A, across University Blvd from the Rec Center, between Volker Hall and the Hill Student Center. Enter on 16th street (side near Volker Hall). Take a ticket when you enter the lot and keep your ticket in your car. Then, at the meeting, please take a parking voucher, available next to the sign-in sheet. You will need both the ticket and the voucher to exit the lot without paying.
