There will be a Faculty Senate meeting on Tuesday, May 14, 2019 from 7:30-9:15 am in Volker Hall, room 302 at 1670 University Blvd.

Chair of the Faculty, Jamey Worrell, will give his monthly report. Lisa Schwiebert, Senior Associate Dean for Graduate and Postdoctoral Education, will present a collaboration session regarding the Council on Postdoctoral Education (COPE) and contracts for Post-Docs. Mark Ingram, UAB’s Director of Athletics, will present a collaboration session regarding an update on Athletics. Q&A, collaboration, and faculty advisement time will be included in each session.

Incoming new Senate members are invited to attend in order to be introduced and to hear Chair Worrell give an explanation regarding Senate committee appointment options and appointments as Faculty/Senate representatives on university-wide committees, with a Q&A for clarifications. The new term begins on September 1. Senate members and faculty present will be given the opportunity to make suggestions regarding items the various Faculty Senate Standing Committees should address.

Senate Committee Chairs will report on committee activities. Important information coming out of select university-wide committees will be shared. An open forum time for faculty to raise concerns, ideas and suggestions is also on the agenda.

A full agenda is available on the Faculty Senate document website. Attendance is open to all UAB faculty, students and staff. Attendees are free to come and go as their schedule allows. Breakfast refreshments will be available starting at 7am.

If you need parking for the meeting, you may park in Lot 5A, across University Blvd from the Rec Center, between Volker Hall and the Hill Student Center. Enter on 16th street (side near Volker Hall). Take a ticket when you enter the lot and keep your ticket in your car. Then, at the meeting, please take a parking voucher, available next to the sign-in sheet. You will need both the ticket and the voucher to exit the lot without paying.
