There will be a Faculty Senate meeting on Tuesday, May 8, 2018 from 7:30-9:20 am in Volker Hall, room 302 at 1670 University Blvd, to the left of Lister Hill Library.
Chair of the Faculty, Mike Wyss, will give his monthly report. President Ray Watts will give his quarterly report along with a Q&A and collaboration session. Allen Bolton, VP, Financial Affairs, will present an update regarding the RCM Shadow Year and an update on Safety on Campus, including B-Alert messages. Major Emory Hayes will present an information session regarding ROTC at UAB. A Q&A and faculty advisement time will be included in each session.
The Senate will discuss the summer meeting schedule and be given an update regarding the results of the Senate elections. Incoming (2018-2020) Senate members have been invited and information regarding Senate Committees and roles will be reviewed and questions will be answered (2018-2019 term begins on Sept 1).
Senate Committee Chairs will report on committee activities. Senate representatives will report on the activities of university-wide committees. An open forum time for faculty concerns and suggestions is also on the agenda. A full agenda is available on the Faculty Senate document website.
Attendance is open to all UAB faculty, students and staff. Attendees are free to come and go as their schedule allows. Breakfast refreshments will be available.
If you need parking for the meeting, you may park in Lot 5A, across University Blvd from the Rec Center, between Volker Hall and the Hill Student Center. Enter on 16th street (side near Volker Hall). Take a ticket when you enter the lot and keep your ticket in your car. Then, at the meeting, please take a parking voucher, available next to the sign-in sheet. You will need both the ticket and the voucher to exit the lot without paying.
For the Open Forum and Q&A/Faculty input portions of the meeting: You may raise your comment by raising your hand or you may write it on a 3X5 card and pass it across/forward to the Chair (3x5 cards available throughout the room).
