There will be a Faculty Senate meeting on Tuesday, November 13th from 7:30-9:15 am in Volker Hall, room 302 at 1670 University Blvd.

Chair of the Faculty, Jamey Worrell, will give his monthly report. A collaboration session regarding the development of UAB’s Signature Core Curriculum will be presented by Alison Chapman and Suzanne Judd, co-chairs of the development committee. Gregg Janowski, Associate Provost for Assessment & Accreditation, will present a collaboration session regarding the results of the recent 1st Destination survey [What job did graduates get right out of school?]. Q&A, collaboration, and faculty advisement time will be included in each session.

The first reading and discussion of the new proposed new Appendix E of the UAB Faculty Handbook (FAQ: Best Practices for Promotion and Tenure) will be led by Dan Givan, chair of the Faculty Policies & Procedures Committee. Information regarding the Fall All Campus Faculty Gathering & Faculty Development Grant Program Poster Session will be shared. Senate members and faculty present will be given the opportunity to make suggestions regarding items the various Faculty Senate Standing Committees should address.
Senate Committee Chairs will report on committee activities. Important information coming out of select university-wide committees will be shared. An open forum time for faculty to raise concerns, ideas and suggestions is also on the agenda.

A full agenda is available on the Faculty Senate document website. Attendance is open to all UAB faculty, students and staff. Attendees are free to come and go as their schedule allows. Breakfast refreshments will be available starting at 7:00 am.

If you need parking for the meeting, you may park in Lot 5A, across University Blvd from the Rec Center, between Volker Hall and the Hill Student Center. Enter on 16th street (side near Volker Hall). Take a ticket when you enter the lot and keep your ticket in your car. Then, at the meeting, please take a parking voucher, available next to the sign-in sheet. You will need both the ticket and the voucher to exit the lot without paying.

For the Open Forum and Q&A/Faculty input portions of the meeting: You may raise your comment by raising your hand or you may text it to a member of the Faculty Senate Executive Committee (number will be furnished at meeting).
