There will be a Faculty Senate meeting on Tuesday, October 9th from 7:30-9:15 am in Volker Hall, room 302 at 1670 University Blvd, to the left of Lister Hill Library.

Chair of the Faculty, Jamey Worrell. Dr. Worrell will give his monthly Chair’s report. Provost and Senior Vice President, Pam Benoit, will give her quarterly report along with Q&A and faculty collaboration. Frank Messina will give his annual Faculty Athletic Representative report. Bradley Barnes, Vice Provost for Enrollment Management, will lead a presentation-collaboration session regarding Enrollment for Fall 2018. Curt Carver, Vice President IT, will give an update on recent phishing attacks and on optimization of Microsoft maintenance window/updates of UAB computer systems. Q&A, collaboration, and faculty advisement time will be included in each session.

Dan Givan, chair of the Faculty Policies and Procedures committee, will give an update on Purchase-cards and DocuSign, based on recent information given to the committee.

Senate Committee Chairs will report on committee activities. Important information coming out of select university-wide committees will be shared. An open forum time for faculty concerns and suggestions is also on the agenda.

If you need parking for the meeting, you may park in Lot 5A, across University Blvd from the Rec Center, between Volker Hall and the Hill Student Center. Enter on 16th street (side near Volker Hall). Take a ticket when you enter the lot and keep your ticket in your car. Then, at the meeting, please take a parking voucher, available next to the sign-in sheet. You will need both the ticket and the voucher to exit the lot without paying.

For the Open Forum and Q&A/Faculty input portions of the meeting: You may raise your comment by raising your hand or you may write it on a 3X5 card and pass it across/forward to the Chair (3X5 cards available throughout the room.)
