There will be a Faculty Senate meeting on Tuesday, August 13th from 7:30-9:15 am in Volker Hall, room 302 at 1670 University Blvd.

Chair of the Faculty, Jamey Worrell, will give his monthly report. Lisa Schwiebert, RCR Training Coordinator, will present a collaboration session regarding “Responsible Conduct of Research (RCR) Upcoming NIH training requirements for all faculty & staff- initial session/discussion-what is included & why; electronic journaling; other tools for RCR; new plagiarism detection system.” Curt Carver, Vice President and Chief Information Officer, will present a collaboration session regarding “UAB IT- Questionable/Adult Website Policy and DUO privacy concerns”. Autumn Tooms Cyprès, Dean of the School of Education, will present a collaboration session regarding “Vision for the School & the School’s role in the larger UAB enterprise.” Q&A, collaboration, and faculty advisement time will be included in each session.

The Faculty Senate term transition will be discussed.

Senate Committee Chairs will report on committee activities. Important information coming out of select university-wide committees will be shared.

An open forum time for faculty to raise concerns, ideas and suggestions is also on the agenda.

A full agenda is available on the Faculty Senate document website. Attendance is open to all UAB faculty, students and staff. Attendees are free to come and go as their schedule allows. Breakfast refreshments will be available starting at 7am.

If you need parking for the meeting, you may park in Lot 5A, across University Blvd from the Rec Center, between Volker Hall and the Hill Student Center. Enter on 16th street (side near Volker Hall). Take a ticket when you enter the lot and keep your ticket in your car. Then, at the meeting, please take a parking voucher, available next to the sign-in sheet. You will need both the ticket and the voucher to exit the lot without paying.
