There will be a Faculty Senate meeting on Tuesday, September 11th from 7:30-9:15 am in Volker Hall, room 302 at 1670 University Blvd, to the left of Lister Hill Library.

2017-2018 Chair of the Faculty, Mike Wyss, will install the new, 2018-2019 Chair of the Faculty, Jamey Worrell. Dr. Worrell will give his monthly Chair’s report. Rosie O’Beirne, AVP-Digital Strategy and Marketing, will present a collaboration session regarding update regarding the UAB Brand Update and Marketing Campaign. Patrick Murphy, Goodrich Endowed Chair for Innovation and Entrepreneurship, will present a collaboration session regarding the Vision of Innovation and Entrepreneurship at UAB. A Q&A and faculty advisement time will be included in each session.

The Faculty Senate will vote to elect 2 Senators-at-Large on the Faculty Senate Executive Committee. The re-Design of Faculty Senate/Faculty Representatives on University-wide Committees will be described. Clarifications regarding attendance expectations will be made. A New Senate Member Q&A will occur (Note: Full orientation of new members will occur in a separate orientation meeting on Sept 12 at 10am.)

Senate Committee Chairs will report on committee activities. Suggestions for goals for the academic year will be taken. Senate representatives will report on the activities of university-wide committees. An open forum time for faculty concerns and suggestions is also on the agenda. A full agenda is available on the Faculty Senate document website.

Attendance is open to all UAB faculty, students and staff. Attendees are free to come and go as their schedule allows. Breakfast refreshments will be available. 

If you need parking for the meeting, you may park in Lot 5A, across University Blvd from the Rec Center, between Volker Hall and the Hill Student Center. Enter on 16th street (side near Volker Hall). Take a ticket when you enter the lot and keep your ticket in your car. Then, at the meeting, please take a parking voucher, available next to the sign-in sheet. You will need both the ticket and the voucher to exit the lot without paying.

For the Open Forum and Q&A/Faculty input portions of the meeting: You may raise your comment by raising your hand or you may write it on a 3X5 card and pass it across/forward to the Chair (3X5 cards available throughout the room.)
