Before casting your vote, faculty may view the mission of the Faculty Senate, the positions descriptions and candidate statements (available on the voting webpage, if submitted, see Candidate Statements tab on the voting page).
Approval Voting: The Faculty Senate elections uses the process of approval voting, so that voters may vote for/approve of as many candidates as he/she wants to, for each position. Each vote is a "yes/I approve of" that candidate. The candidate with the most approval-votes is elected to serve in the seat/position. Based on the number of votes, the Senator positions are filled first, then the candidates with the next-highest number of votes will serve in the Alternate Senator seat(s). All remaining nominees (based on number of votes received) are placed next-in-line, for service in the event of an elected Senator and/or Alternate Senator becoming no longer able to complete their elected term of office.
For faculty in Medicine and Joint Health Sciences: Joint Health Sciences has its own Senator seats, separate from the School of Medicine. The voting webpage recognizes your primary department and will display the applicable Senator candidates.
