The UAB Graduate School launched its community educational outreach program Discoveries in the Making in February 2016. We've been impressed all year with the research our graduate students are doing as well as the creative and interesting ways they find to present their work to the public - and we want to add more students to the Discoveries program this fall!
We're always on the lookout for new Discoveries Scholars to speak at our venues - Sterne Library on campus, Homewood Public Library and Hoover Public Library - and we need writers who will blog about the research presented at each of the public library events. If you're interested in speaking at Discoveries in the Making, follow these simple steps. If you'd like to write for Discoveries, check out these tips and email juliemck@uab.edu to express your interest. See more information about getting involved in Discoveries in the Making, plus the full, up-to-date schedule at uab.edu/discoveries.
Even if you're not ready to participate in the program yourself, we encourage all UAB students, postdocs, faculty and staff to support our Discoveries Scholars by attending these events and asking thoughtful questions (those who ask questions at any Discoveries event will get a free Discoveries tote!).
