The Graduate School hosted its 3MT Semifinals Thursday, October 31, at the Hill Student Center. There were 27 semifinalists and 10 of those will advance to the 3MT Finals next week for one last chance to win $1,000 and a spot in the Regional Competition.
Hosted by UAB Graduate School and developed by The University of Queensland, the Three Minute Thesis (3MT®) competition celebrates the exciting research conducted by Ph.D. students. The exercise cultivates students’ academic, presentation and research communication skills. The competition supports their capacity to effectively explain their research in three minutes, in a language appropriate to a non-specialist audience.
The Finals will be 10 a.m. to noon Thursday, November 1, in the Hill Student Center Alumni Theater. Third place is a People’s Choice, so please come out, listen to the presenters and then vote for your favorite!
The Graduate School would like to thank all of our student participants, as well as those who volunteered their time to judge the competition.
