Why MSMBS in Bioinformatics
The dramatic growth of human health and disease datasets such as imaging, clinical, environmental, mobile heath, and omic data, coupled with the need for interpretation across multiple data types, is leading to exceptionally high demand for bioinformatics skillsets. This demand has been growing at a constant rate for the last 10 years and is expected to continue to grow for many years to come. According to Indeed.com, 58% of entry-level positions in the field have estimated salaries over $70,000/year, $134,586/ year for senior positions (generally requiring skills gained with 4-5 years’ experience), and $187,000/year for leadership roles.
