The following are monthly updates from the UAB Department of Anesthesiology and Perioperative Medicine Education Division.
Interview Season
We have started our interview season for the residency program. This month, virtual interviews will be hosted for a total of 56 candidates over 7 interview days. Interviews will continue through the end of December. Many thanks to the administrative staff, faculty, and residents who make our interview process successful!
ANESTHESIOLOGY 2024
Several residents will attend the American Society of Anesthesiologists (ASA) annual meeting this month in Philadelphia. It’s an opportunity for residents to participate in educational events, represent our program, and advocate for our specialty.
Residents Attending ASA
Two of our ASA resident delegates, Drs. Alex Kofskey and Josh Purvis, will participate in all ASA resident delegate activities. Our residency recruitment directors, Drs. Skyler Graham and Zasmine Hymes-Green, will visit with medical students during the residency program open house events. Dr. Charlotte Streetzel is our FAER Resident Scholar Program recipient, presenting her mentored research project. Also attending is resident Dr. Kevin O’Keefe.
ASA Residency Programs Open House
Anesthesiology residency programs from across the nation gather on Saturday, Oct. 19, at the annual meeting to showcase their programs to interested medical students. It’s a huge ticketed event that grows in popularity every year and provides medical students the opportunity to meet residency program directors, faculty, and residents to learn what their programs have to offer. Dr. Tekuila Carter will be leading our team at this event.
ASA Acknowledgements
Congratulations to Dr. Paul Piennette who will present a PBLD at the meeting.
