Last month, Truman Grayson, UAB Comprehensive Diabetes Center (UCDC) researcher V, was honored at the UAB Department of Medicine DOM STAR for Staff Excellence Awards reception.

At the reception, the four 2023 recipients were joined by leadership, coworkers, and family in the Wallace Tumor Institute lobby for recognition and refreshments.

The DOM STAR Award is a quarterly award for staff excellence where staff members nominate their much-deserved fellow peers for going above and beyond. The DOM noted that it would not have accomplished what it has each quarter without its staff.

Truman was named the UAB Department of Medicine STAR Award winner for FY23 Q3. He has worked at the UCDC for over 12 years.

Department leadership thanked winners for their indispensable contributions to UAB's values and their commitment to their teams. And each candidate had a leader or colleague speak on their behalf.

For Truman, Anath Shalev, M.D., UCDC Director, gave a warm speech about his dedication to the center and to managing its research infrastructure.
