The American Diabetes Association (ADA) selected Kirk Habegger, Ph.D., associate professor in the Division of Endocrinology, Diabetes, and Metabolism and scientist in the UAB Comprehensive Diabetes Center (UCDC), as the cohost of the new podcast DiabetesBio of its flagship journal Diabetes.
Habegger co-hosts the podcast with Darleen Sandoval, Ph.D., professor at the University of Colorado School of Medicine Department of Pediatrics, and Kevin Williams, Ph.D., associate professor at UT Southwestern Medical Center Department of Internal Medicine.
According to DiabetesBio, in each episode Habegger, Sandoval, and Williams will discuss the latest and greatest content in Diabetes. The three will feature compelling new research in the realm of diabetes.
DiabetesBio will have engaging segments, highlighting not only new diabetes research, but also relevant historical research that has a foothold in the current landscape. Each episode will provide commentary on one to two select publications from the journal, including interviews with the articles’ author(s). Episodes will also feature brief highlights and commentary on additional articles of interest.
In addition to this new role, Habegger serves the scientific community by reviewing National Instituties of Health (NIH) grant applications for the Human Studies of Diabetes and Obesity (HSDO) NIH study section. Habegger is also a consulting editor of the journal Molecular Metabolism as well as for the Journal of Clinical Investigations Insight.
