UAB Comprehensive Diabetes Center Member and Division of Endocrinology, Diabetes, and Metabolism Associate Professor Anish Patel, M.D., recently sat down with UAB MedCast podcast to talk about the telehealth and diabetes.

Patients with diabetes often need many doctors' appointments with various specialists to effectively manage their diabetes. Plus, many insurers, particularly Medicare and Medicaid, require diabetes patients to visit their provider every three to six months as a requirement for them cover the cost of diabetes supplies. Telehealth appointments can be very beneficial for those with diabetes, especially those in rural locations. Patel discusses the benefits and barriers to physicians offering telehealth visits for their patients with diabetes.
