Division of Endocrinology, Diabetes, and Metabolism Professor and Hugh Kaul Precision Medicine Institute Senior Scientist Rita Basu, M.D., recently served as editor for the textbook Precision Medicine in Diabetes: A Multidisciplinary Approach to an Emerging Paradigm.
Additionally, Basu serves Senior Scientist in the UAB Comprehensive Diabetes Center as well as the UAB Center for Exercise Medicine. She is also medical director of the Office of Human Research Protection Program and chair of the Institutional Review Board.
The textbook, which is 16 chapters long, is a collaboration amongst diabetes professionals from across the world, including the US, Canada, Australia, Europe, and Asia.
Authors note that is a multidisciplinary approach to precision medicine techniques and technology for diabetes and its complications.
Authors of the book describe bioinformatics, statistics, and software engineering as tools to develop possible treatment pathways for diabetes. They note that the book is ideal for clinical endocrinologists and other professionals involved in the management of diabetes.
