2023 officially marks the 15th anniversary of the UAB Comprehensive Diabetes Center (UCDC). The UCDC was approved by the Board of Trustees of the University of Alabama and is the result of a collaborative effort between UAB, Children’s Hospital and members of the Birmingham Community. It was established as a university-wide interdisciplinary research center in 2008 with a mission to perform cutting-edge research, train future clinicians and researchers, and develop novel treatment approaches.
Now, the UCDC has grown to include over 200 faculty members across various schools, departments, and divisions. To read more about the history of the UCDC, see a note from Director Anath Shalev, M.D., and learn how you can support diabetes research, visit the 15th anniversary page. If you would like to contribute to the mission of the UCDC and help further diabetes research, we encourage supporters to give $15 or more in honor of this milestone anniversary.
