Each year, the UAB Department of Medicine announces several awards for faculty across many divisions, from research and clinical awards of excellence to unsung heroes to teaching awards.
This year, two UAB Comprehensive Diabetes Center members were honored: Division of Endocrinology, Diabetes, and Metabolism Professors T. Brooks Vaughan, M.D. and Amy Warriner, M.D.,
Vaughan won a teaching award for his excellence as a clinician educator. The Department of Medicine annually recognizes the dedication of clinician-educators for their work training the next generation of physicians and scientists.
Warriner was recognized as an unsung hero for working quietly behind the scenes to make the Department of Medicine’s mission possible in every area: patient care, research, and education. The department notes that it celebrates each individual chosen for their extraordinary contributions.
Both Vaughan and Warriner were nominated by their colleagues and then selected for the award. The UCDC congratulates the two awardees on their outstanding contributions to the center, their divisions, and department across the UAB Heersink School of Medicine.
