Biography
Dr. DeLaney graduated with a degree in Religious Studies from the University of Virginia and later attended medical school at the University of South Alabama. He completed residency at Maine Medical Center in Portland, Maine and practiced in the community before coming to UAB. He is an associate professor and has served as the assistant and associate residency program director. Matthew is a regular contributor to various medical podcasts including EMRAP, JACEP Open and Urgent Care RAP and since 2021 has been the host and senior medical editor of ERCast. He is a frequent lecturer at multiple national and international educational conferences and is the host of Essentials of EM. Clinically and academically Matthew has a particular interest in medicolegal topics and how we can use cases to improve outcomes for both patients and clinicians.
