Biography
Dr. Kelly completed his undergraduate studies at the University of Michigan with a bachelor’s degree in biology. He graduated from Ross University School of Medicine with a medical doctorate. Dr. Kelly completed his residency in Emergency Medicine at the Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center in New Orleans followed by a fellowship in Undersea and Hyperbaric Medicine the following year. Dr. Kelly practiced community emergency medicine, hyperbaric medicine, and wound care in San Francisco, CA before joining the Department of Emergency Medicine at the University of Alabama at Birmingham. At UAB, Dr. Kelly was instrumental in initialing the Wound Care and Hyperbaric Medicine program in the Russell Clinic acting as the Co-Medical Director additionally working as an attending Physician within the UAB Department of Emergency Medicine.
In 2014, Dr. Kelly moved to the University of Pennsylvania Department of Emergency Medicine and Division of Undersea and Hyperbaric Medicine acting as Chief of Hyperbaric Medicine. In 2020, he returned to UAB to continue working with Wound Care and Hyperbaric Medicine, and with the Department of Emergency Medicine.
Dr. Kelly’s research interests include carbon monoxide poisoning, mitochondrial dysfunction, hyperbaric medicine, and wound care.
