Biography

Dr. Paul Kivela attended medical school at the University of Illinois College of Medicine and completed his residency in Emergency Medicine at Harbor-UCLA Medical Center Los Angeles and he subsequently completed an Administrative Emergency Medicine fellowship in San Francisco, California.

Dr. Kivela's clinical experience includes being Chief-of-Service and medical director of an academic emergency medicine program, managing partner of a single hospital democratic group, working with Indian Health Services during the pandemic, and chief strategic officer for a group of free-standing emergency departments and rural access facilities. He serves as medical director of an ambulance company and several innovative medical companies. He leads the medical committee at a PGA golf tournament and is a member of the physician ski patrol. He lectures nationally and internationally on leadership, business, innovative practices, medical reasoning and other medical topics.

Dr. Kivela's work has been published in the American Journal of Emergency Medicine, Annals of Emergency Medicine, and the International Journal of Molecular Science, among others.
