The UAB Center for Exercise Medicine is a national leader in the field of exercise medicine research. Promoting community outreach and education based on findings through basic and translational research and exercise clinical trials is a top priority.

UCEM's community outreach efforts have aimed at enlightening the community about benefits of exercise via various educational booths and lectures.

Some of UCEM's past outreach efforts to educate various publics include:

• Educational booth at the Health and Wellness Fair hosted by UAB Recreation Center

• Educational booth at the Senior Spirit Expo at Hyatt Regency, Birmingham

• Educational booth at the Magic City Cycliad event supporting UAB’s O’Neal Comprehensive Cancer Center

• Participation in the Birmingham Corporate Challenge

• Sponsoring and participating at the Equal Access Birmingham 5k event

• Sponsoring UAB Postdoctoral Research Day

• Girls on the Run Birmingham 5k Tutu Run

• UAB Undergraduate Research Expo

• Lecture at the NeuroScience Café on the topic "Exercise to Strengthen the brain"

• Educational booth and a free BP clinic at the Arthritis Repair Fair
