The American Board of Family Medicine (ABFM) has selected Professor and Department of Family and Community Medicine Chair, Irfan Asif, M.D., and Associate Professor and Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Vice Chair, Dale Colorado, D.O., to serve on the ABFM Sports Medicine Assessment Committee.
The American Board of Family Medicine is a not-for-profit, private medical organization whose mission is “to improve the health of the public through Board Certification, Residency Training, Research, Leadership Development, and promote the development of the specialty of Family Medicine.” The ABFM is the certifying medical board for all Family Medicine practitioners in the United States.
The Sports Medicine Assessment Committee is the certifying body for non-surgical Sports Medicine practitioners, including representatives from Family Medicine, Emergency Medicine, Internal Medicine, Pediatrics and Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation. The ABFM selected Asif and Colorado to be among the group that certifies sports medicine practitioners across multiple different specialties. They will serve on this committee for a term of three consecutive years.
