UAB’s inaugural COLON on the GREEN was held on Friday, March 3, 2017 and hosted over 30 vendors from the Birmingham metro area to kick off National Colorectal Cancer Awareness Month.

The motto, “Reach 80 by 18” was put forth to set the goal of reaching 80% of the 50-and-over population to receive colon cancer screenings by 2018.

Hosted by UAB Employee Wellness, several GI physicians, nurses, NPs and staff assisted in staffing the event and assisting in increased awareness. The event’s visual highlight was a large, inflatable colon, seen above, under which attendees could walk through to get a true sense of a healthy colon’s biological makeup.
